Another dog attack in England. This time it was the vicious attack of a 16 year-old girl who was a student and was on campus at the time of the incident. Emily Scott is studying for a national diploma in animal care. The dog that attacked her was destroyed at the scene. It is believed that the Emily was attempting to clean out the dog's cage at the time of the incident in Myerscough College.

She was immediately rushed to Preston Royal Hospital and had to be seen by a plastic surgeon. Apparently, the dog did quite a lot of damage to her face specifically her nose. No other students will be allowed in same area until the cause of the incident is determined. According to Stuart Davidson, the marketing manager at Myerscough college "It's obviously a tragic and upsetting incident. "We have used the RSPCA and that center for work placements for years and have done risk assessments and health and safety checks.

Interestingly enough, Staffordshire bull terriers, such as the one that attacked Emily Scott, are not one of the breeds subject to ownership or breeding restrictions under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. Yet they have wide faces with jaws that are capable of locking much like a pit bull. In fact they are similar in structure to a pit bull. Perhaps they generally have a better temperament than a pit bull and the incident of dog attacks by these particular dogs is lower. Although, it does make one wonder exactly what the criteria is being used to classify a dangerous dog.
