Man Dies on Motorcycle after He Fails to Stop

According to local police, a thirty-something man died on Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a car.

The decedent, David Anthony Hall of Britain, did not stop at a posted stop sign. As a result, his motorcycle collided with a Oldsmobile. He didn't stand a chance, and was soon pronounced dead at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

As for the driver of the Oldsmobile, he had to be freed from his vehicle by the fire department. That driver, Larry Callis, 47, broke his arm as a result of the incident and was treated at the same local hospital as the decedent. It is presently unknown if this incident was alcohol related.

MotorCycle Crash Under Investigation

David Frazelle, 29, of Hawthorne, California was riding his motorcycle at approximately 6 p.m. on a Monday evening when he stuck a truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not harmed.

What is strange about this particular motorcycle crash is the fact that the truck did not slow or stop suddenly immeditely prior to the accident. Yet the decedent drove right into the back of the truck. The CHP is investigating the incident.

Colorado's Motorcycle Fatalities Double

The number of motorcycle fatalities have doubled in Colorado. And there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight. So far, in 2008 as many as 10 riders have died. The majority of those riders were not wearing crash helmets. There are two things worth having when you ride a motorcycle, good training and a good helmet.

A new safety program has now been launched. It is known as "Live to Ride." What is stressed in this campaign is training, training, training. Not only can the motorcycle rider learn to stay safe while riding, but insurance discounts are offered by some insurance companies should you take motorcycle training courses. It is a really good idea. Everybody wins.

Cousins Die on Motorcross Bikes

Cousins Richard Aaron Dale, 19, and Cameron Ian McClintock, 15, were killed on March 17 when their motocross bikes collided in mid-air while they were riding at the family farm. A recent inquest is hoped to bring some measure of closure to a terrible family tragedy.

Richard and Cameron were cousins, which makes the tragedy all the worse. Both Richard and Cameron were riding at a family farm. They road to the top of a hill for a moment. When suddenly Richard went down the hill and over another hill out of view. His cousin followed suit. Suddenly Richard reappeared in mid-air from the same hill he had just gone over. According to a witness "less than a minute later the bikes collided in mid-air." Tragically, Cameron and Richard died at the scene.

Apparently, their motocross bikes and gear were in good order. Although, they were not wearing chest protectors. Richard died from a laceration to his aorta and massive chest cavity hemorrhaging and Cameron died from multiple chest and abdomen injuries.

For additional informaton pertaining motorcycle accidents visit our link.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Susy Owen

Three Teens Die in Alabama Car Accident

Last Saturday, three Alabama teens were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in hit a tree and went off an embankment. Four other teens were injured in the same car accident. All of the teens attended Hayden High School and were on their way home from a cheerleading clinic at the time of the crash.

The driver, Sarah Elizabeth Agee, 17, in addition to Brittany Lovejoy, 17, Ariel Nibblet, 17, and Alexandria Thomas, 16, were injured. It has been reported that the girls were laughing and singing right before the driver lost control. It appears that Agee was distracted.

There is a lot to be said for not allowing teens to drive together without supervision. Quite often, teens don't have the experience to know how easy it is to make a fatal mistake, and that driving really does require their full and complete attention. Some reports have suggested that the driver was going off the side of the road and over corrected. The investigation is ongoing.

Additional information on automobile accidents

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Susy Owen

Motorcycle Safety Campaign

With the assistance of Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation, the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) has started an aggressive motorcycle safety awareness campaign. The campaign began in January when Plymouth Rock offered to underwrite the cost of the program. Members of Massachusetts Motorcycle Association sent letters to every municipalities in Massachusetts, 351 in all. They were asking for Support for the safety campaign. That support came in the form of Plymouth Rock's decision to underwrite an aggressive campaign.

The safety campaign includes 500 large signs in more than 150 cities. The signs encourage motorcycle safety and point drivers to their website www. Plymouthrock.com. To date, Plymouth Rock has donated $15,000 towards the campaign. Tim Quinn, Marketing Manager at Plymouth Rock said " Plymouth Rock is very pleased to support this initiative. It certainly shows an incredible dedication by the members of the Association to the issue of safety education, and a tremendous amount of volunteer effort to put this together in a short time."

If you would like to learn more about motorcycle safety, please visit www.massmotorcycle.org.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Susy Owen

Motorcycle Riders - Is this Bill the Answer?

Have you seen Senate Bill 49 (nicknamed Kyle's Law). It is a bill that aims at cutting down on accidents involving motorcycle-riding children under the age of twelve.

Given the number of accidents that occur yearly, it is clear that changes are needed to cut down not only on injuries but also on deaths as a result of unsafe riding. Do you think taking the privilege of riding away from children is the right measure to take? Some would say it is overkill. Others are on board with the Bill. It is a widely held belief that it is the parents that need to be accountable for what their children are doing while riding off-road bikes.

No matter what way you feel about the topic, being informed on the best safety measures and teaching those to your children, if they are riding off-road bikes, in addition to being informed about the Bills that are out there is key.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Susy Owen

Automobile Accidents and Related Medical Costs

Yesterday, lawmakers moved to kill pending state regulations that would cut how much doctors can charge automobile insurers for treating accident victims. The proposed bill would regulate costs on more than 1,000 medical procedures that are automoblie related.

"We would argue the reimbursement rates are inflated but recognize that the fee schedule currently pending before the department is a better alternative than the current system," said Magdalena Padilla, president of the Insurance Council of New Jersey, which represents most of the state's auto insurers.

On the other hand, when it comes to automobile accidents and related medical treatment, medical providers feel that such a bill would make it more difficult for patients to get care. In spite of a written request by the insurance department to postpone action, the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee yesterday cleared a bill that would stop the department from proceeding further.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Susy Owen
