Drug manufacturers of antidepressant medications have been given one month to revise the current labeling of their products to include warnings of the increased risks of suicidal thinking and behavior in young adults ages 18 to 24- years-old during the first one to two months of treatment.

Scientific data did not show that there is an increase in the risks of suicidal thinking and/or behavior in adults over the age of 24. In fact the data showed a decreased risk of suicidal thought and/or behavior in consumers over the age of 65, which is the type of result we would hope for in general. If you would like more information regarding the drugs involved, see the U. S. Food and Drug Administration's press release.
