Bradenton police officials have a police misconduct scandal of sorts on their hands. It is believed that on-duty officers were having sex with a prostitute. Bradenton City Council, as well as others, are calling for an independent investigation into the matter.

It seems that the prostitute talked. Her name is Dawn Marie Gibson. Ms. Gibson freely admits that not only is she a prostitute but she is a drug user. She alleges that over the course of a couple of years she was having sex with a couple of on-duty officers in exchange for protection, money and they even through in some crack, according to Dawn.

The chief feels that an independant investigation into police misconduct is unnecessary and that his internal affairs department can handle the matter. Sounds fair enough!! The officers in question have resigned - for 'personal' reasons. "Critics, including former Bradenton Mayor Bill Evers, said the department's handling of the inquiry is "like letting the fox guard the henhouse."
