It is believed by many that autism cases are a direct result of a mercury-based vaccine preservative. The incidences of Autism continue to rise to the horror of parents and others who have watched seemingly normally functioning children suddenly go into what seems to be their own.

It is now being reported that the vaccines may not have been the cause of autism as feared, although many parents are not convinced.

State Public Health Department researchers found that although the preservative, thimersol in no longer in most vaccines and has not been present since 2001, the incidence of autism continues to rise. Many in the medical community feel the latest study should reassure parents that vaccinations do not cause autism. However, autism community parents point out it is still being used in multi-vial shots as a preservative. The results of the study are in the January issue of The Archives of General Psychiatry
