There has been a lot of contraversy regarding the current driving age and whether it should be raised for the safety of all drivers on the road. Teenagers are at a much higher risk of getting in an auto accident and/or dying in one than a driver over the age of 25. This story is every parent's nightmare and involves a teenage driver who did not learn from his actions.

A New York teenager, Ralph Tarchine, 19, received a sentence of 1 to 3 years in state prison for his involvement in 2 car crashes. In one of the accidents, he caused the death of one of his passengers when the Jeep that he was driving ran off the road, pinning his passenger underneath. His passenger, Michael Plunkett, died at the scene.

Then in January of 2006, Mr. Tachine was involved in yet another accident. This one, although not fatal, caused serious injuries to both the driver and his passenger. Mr. Tachine, is clearly his own worst enemy at the moment. It is sadly true that some time in prison may be the only thing that saves his life.
